TiVo all a Twitter

I’m a nerd. Well, not as large of a nerd as Brian Peek seems to be. He created a great Windows application that allows my TiVo to Tiwtter. What TweeVo does is poll the Now Playing lists of connected units and post new recordings to Twitter.

One really useful thing is that I can see in almost real time what suggestions STiVo, BiVo, and DiVo are recording. I’ve already been able to see a show that I am going to actually want to watch.

One thing that Google Reader does not do very well is renaming folders/tags. I wanted to move some of my feeds around and rename some folders, but found it almost impossible. At first I was going to bite the bullet and delete my folders and just restart. I was not looking forward to doing this with my 65 feeds.

I then remembered that I could export my feed list to a OPML file. I did just that, then imported it to Feedreader. I was then able to do a better drag and drop, and rename. Then I had to export back out, then import to Google Reader.

The only thing that did not work work out was that when I imported the OPML file back into Google Reader one of the folders was missing. I’m not sure why but it was an easy fix.

Will Google Docs soon provide a place for people to share Photos and Videos?

I saw these two new icons, Photos & Videos, when I logged into my Google Apps Docs, but they vanished as soon as the page was done loading.

Free Movie Monday!

Thanks to Redbox I’ve been getting free movie rentals on Mondays. They send out a text message that is good for a one day rental only on that day. I don’t even get the text messages. I visit Inside Redbox to see the text codes. You can also follow @InsideRedbox on Twitter to get the codes and other info.

I’m not sure what I’ll get today, it is a toss up between City of Ember and Pineapple Express.

The wonderful world of spam

From September 9 to October 8 I have received over 1495 spam messages in my three email accounts. That number is actually from two of the three accounts because I cleared one spam folder last week. The best thing about all of this spam is that I don’t see any of it if I don’t want to. One of my accounts is a good ‘ole Gmail account, and the other two are Google Apps accounts.

I know this is a total plug for Google however I am very impressed with the quality of their filters. They catch all of the sexually explicit items as well as items that I have marked as spam before. A good filter that learns what I don’t want, awesome.

Now, every spam filter is not perfect, which is why I try to check up on mine from time to time. For example, today it spammed the ThinkGeek newsletter. However, from now on it should put that in my inbox and not spam it.
